- 24 August 2005
This weekend! Make sure you've
signed up, paid your fees, and
nomminated for rescue and canteen duty.
I'm starting to get into gear to get the
results engines up and running for the
new year, too. Not there yet, but
hopefully we'll make it OK. In honour
of the Club's shiny new web site,
complete with official racing calendar,
I've stopped publishing one here, and
instead have included a link to the main
(Senior) race program in the margin
menu. Let me know if you think this
isn't a good idea.
- 27 July 2005
The new season approaches: you
should have received your membership
forms in the mail, and Ross Mackay's
e-mail notice that there's a working bee
at the club this Sunday (31st). Last
Sunday was the last winter sailing day.
The new season's calendar is up on the
main Hunters Hill Sailing Club web site
here.
It's all starting to happen.
In keeping with the spirit of things
happening, here is the Notice of Race
for the Balmain Regatta, which will take
place on Sunday 30 October: [PDF].
- 17 May 2005
The new Hunters Hill Sailing Club
web site is up, here. I'm afraid that
holidays forced me to miss the AGM, so
I don't know how that all went, yet.
Sorry for the inconvenience. No doubt
normal transmission will resume soon.
Don't forget that the first race of
the winter series is this weekend,
Sunday 22nd, starting at 1300. The
first winter working bee will be from
about 8am to 2pm the following Sunday,
29 May. Keep an eye on the main club
notice board for details.
- PM, 10 Apr 2005
Well, that's it for the points
scoring part of the season. See you
all at the AGM and the awards
ceremonies, if I miss you at the
President's Trophy next weekend.
- 10 Apr 2005
Last pointscore of the season
today. Looks like a lovely day for a
sail. Be there, even if it won't
change your position in the
series...
Gordon Azzopardi has two boats for sale,
160282 and 169688. Contact him on
0409030705 or
for details,
photos and prices.
- 21 Mar 2005
The last championship race was
sailed on Sunday in gusty but
otherwise near perfect conditions: a
great day's sailing was had by all.
The racing was close as the
places still in doubt were fought
for. The final championship placings
are up on the results page, but will
be summarised here:
Emma Sunderland won the 4.7s, just
ahead of Chris Rohr and Alexandra
Galloway. Brian Conolly won the
Radials, ahead of Gordon Azzopardi and
Meghan Andrew. David Page won in the
Standard rigs, ahead of David Edmiston
and (oh, look!) your humble scribe.
Congratulations to everyone!
Fundraising do on 2nd April:
tickets still available: contact
Leanne Nattrass on 9736 2595 before
Tuesday 29th, as that's the day that
she needs to give instructions to the
caterers. Should be a great night.
- 14 Mar 2005
Results up to last Sunday are on
the results page. Calendar corrected
for Easter dates. The coming sunday
is the last championship heat: be
there!
Fundraising pig-roast + jazz band
on 2nd April: $25/ticket or
$65/family. Bound to be a good time
for all. Get tickets from me or from
the canteen, next weekend.
- 7 Jan 2005
Championship and Handicap results for
Sunday 6 Feb are up. Hunters Hill
Handicap results will follow once I
figure out what is involved, and tell
my results program about it. Soon,
hopefully.
Photos that David Page took while
on rescue boat duty are also up,
here. Thanks Dave!
- 31 Jan 2005
Results for the first race back after
the Christmas Break are up. Hopefully
there will be a few more starters in the
4.7 and Full Rig sections next week, for
CC6 (only one of each yesterday.) Malcolm
Roe and David Page scored easy first place
points by doing rescue boat duty! (David:
Don't forget to write "Race Duty" or the
like on the sign-on sheet, otherwise I
am likely to count you as a no-show for
the day.) The breeze and sailing were
excellent, and no-one collided with the
16-foot skiffs that were hooning around
on much the same course as us. It was a
10kt Southerly, so we were sailing the Snapper
Island to Tarban Ck. course with a water
start in Fern bay, all rig sizes starting
together.
Change to sailing
instructions: the race abandoned on
12 December was CC5, and this will now
be sailed on 20 February, in
conjunction with PS19 and HHH2. PS15
has evaporated from the results tally,
never to be seen again.
Kevin Burman has written to say
that there was much discussion at the
nationals on how to make our fleet
more compettitive and (hopefully)
larger. The main concern was that
starts are too easy, races too long
(and perhaps too one-sided).
Suggestions for improvement included:
- water starts, boat or gate
- two short races each race day
- courses set east of Clarkes Pt, mostly
- club visits/joint races
- more HHSC lasers at regattas
- more (some) on-water coaching
If everyone could think about
these issues, and how to distribute
the extra work that they involve, and
bring their thoughts to the next race
(6 Feb), that would be terriffic.
Thanks to everyone who helped out
with our duty class responsibilities: very
smooth and professional.
- 26 Nov 2004
Yay: an update! The results page
contains results! Your humble class
secretary and web maintainer is still
open to suggestionsn for improvement,
and the handicapping algorithm could
probably stand some fine tuning, so
please take the Pointscore results
with a grain of salt. The
championship results should be good,
though.
Oh: I still haven't marked in all
of the away races. I hope to get
around to that soon. If you've been
given a did-not-start score
(maximum points) for a
race that you missed because you were
competing in a class event, please let
me know.
Don't forget: this weekend we're
hosting heats five and six of the
Laser 4.7 Interclub Championship.
We've been told to expect an extra
10-15 boats: please make our guests feel welcome.
- 18 Aug 2004
- A new web page is born. Includes draft calendar,
but not much else.
